Smarter Stop Block
Add a back bevel to your stop block to keep sawdust from affecting your cuts.
If you have to cut a bunch of boards to the same length, securing a stop block to the base or fence of your miter saw is the best way to ensure that you do so quickly and accurately. However, if sawdust accumulates in front of the block, it will throw off the measurement.
A simple way to prevent a buildup of sawdust is to cut a back bevel on the bottom of the block. When you position a board for cutting, any sawdust near the stop is pushed under the bevel and out of the way. Of course, you will need to clear out the sawdust after dozens of cuts.
